On Thursday, November 20th at 7:30 p.m. at the Stafford Administration Center, in the Board of Supervisors’ Chambers, Janet Payne, retired Fine Arts Coordinator of the Stafford County Public Schools, will give a Power-Point presentation about Palmer Hayden. Hayden, a Widewater native, became a famous Harlem Renaissance painter. Most of Hayden’s work appears at the Museum of African American Art in Los Angeles, California. Hear how Ms. Payne brought Hayden’s work home to Stafford for a visit in 1998. Also find out how his Stafford experiences shaped his artwork. All are welcome.
