On Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 7:30pm we will be hosting the second of our 12-part Climate Change Adaptation lecture and film series at the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre On this evening we will hear from Stephen Roddick, Environment Yukon, an overview of the Yukon Government climate change adaptation research projects which will be presented throughout the series. We will then be showing: Inuit Knowledge and Climate Change… Nunavut-based director Zacharias Kunuk (Atanarjuat The Fast Runner) and researcher and filmmaker Dr. Ian Mauro (Seeds of Change) have teamed up with Inuit communities to document their knowledge and experience regarding climate change. This new documentary, the world’s first Inuktitut language film on the topic, takes the viewer “on the land” with elders and hunters to explore the social and ecological impacts of a warming Arctic. This unforgettable film helps us to appreciate Inuit culture and expertise regarding environmental change and indigenous ways of adapting to it. For more information on the series including other presentations coming this fall, visit beringia or check us out on Facebook.
