On Tuesday, [Beth] Brodie’s brother, Sean Aylward, met with lawmakers to press for legislation filed by Sens. Bruce Tarr, R-Gloucester, and Barry Finegold, D-Andover, to keep juvenile killers in prison for at least 35 years. I support Finegold & Tarrs efforts to keep killers in prison, but they should make the minimum time in prison 50 years. Where are the rights for Beth Brodie, a young girl beaten to death with a baseball bat by a miscreant? There is no rehabilitation for depraved heart indifference, whether the killer is 17 or 70. Frontal lobe theories are just that, theories. If they were accurate then we would have millions of teenagers out there killing each other. Public safety and the rights of the victims come first--someone who exhibits such a vicious disregard for human life will kill or commit other violent acts again. salemnews/local/x2117375928/Family-of-murdered-teen-pushes-for-new-parole-bill?zc_p=0
