On an Amtrak train on the way home from Connecticut. A 60-something woman gets on the train in Trenton NJ talking on her cell phone. She continues to do so long after she sits down, rudely carrying on her conversation at the volume one would talk on the phone in the privacy of ones own kitchen. When the conductor gets to our car and checks her ticket, he interrupts her call to inform her that: This is not a New Jersey transit train, maam. Its an Amtrak. Lady: Well, ita the same tracks. Whats the difference as long as you stop at Brunswick Conductor: we dont stop at Brunswick, maam. Lady: well whats the next stop? Conductor: Philadelphia South Street Station, maam. Lady: You mean youre not even going in the right direction? Conductor: no maam. You need to go north, were going south. And youve just added a couple of hours to your trip. Lol! The poor schlameel who wound up next to her would probably have been happy to point her mistake out to her a stop or two sooner, but she was blatantly ignoring everyone around her and yakking away on the phone. Did I mention that the NJ train she wanted doesnt stop in Philadelphia? That means shell have to buy an Amtrak ticket back to Trenton, then pick up the NJ train to Brunswick (if it is still running at that hour). Last I heard she was on the phone again trying to convince someone to just come to Philly and pick her up. lol. Sometimes karma does exactly what it should. Get off the damned phone people, and pay attention!
