On his last Fox Business Show, John Stossel had a debate between Mark Skousen and another economist. Skousen is the organizer of the annual Freedom Fest conference. Stossel plugged it and said he was going to do a show from the FreedomFest (at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas) next month. . Mark was the first person to pay me to speak back in 1977 after I graduated from Harvard Business School. He had me speak for him on various other occasions over the ensuing 36 years including at FreedomFest in 2010. Last summer Mark and I both spoke at the Money Show here in San Francisco and took in a San Francisco Giants game together. . I am making a solo speech and appearing on a panel discussion at his 2013 FreedomFest Next month. I hope I will meet some readers there. freedomfest/ . Other speakers this year include Rand Paul, Arthur Laffer (Laffer Curve), David Boaz (CATO), Dinesh D’Souza, Steve Forbes, Nick Gillespie (Reason), Grover Norquist, George Gilder, Tim Sandefur (author of the Right to Make a Living). There are 152 total speakers. You also see exhibit booths containing the leading lights of the Libertarian Party, Austrian Economics, Ayn Rand admirers, von Mises Institute. I wish I had the list. It’s not on the web site. I go more to visit the booths than to hear the speakers. . It is called the world’s largest gathering of free minds and the theme this year is Are we Rome? (which fits the venue) Ciao!
