On my way home today, I took a five-minute detour, just to revisit the route of my second half marathon. It was a nostalgic and sentimental trip down memory lane. I became surprisingly emotional as I drove up the hills which I had run, remembering other points of the race, the water stop locations, a herd of deer, the gorgeous lake, etc... This particular half marathon took place shortly after my student passed away in January, and that race was so special to me. The course was challenging, symbolic of the end of a long struggle with bone cancer. Today, however, it just looked beautiful and peaceful, reminding me that theres an angel in heaven watching over me. #irunforeric
