On one of the rare times I actually watched the Olympics, I happened to see this live - Tom Brokaw introducing a simple set piece on how the people of Gander, Newfoundland were in position to be of special help on 9/11. I expected a few minutes of human-interest junk, and I took a deep breath. A few minutes in, I suddenly realized it wasnt going to be just a few minutes. And Brokaw had drawn me in completely. An hour later, I marveled at what Id seen. If youve never seen Operation Yellow Ribbon, take a few minutes - or 43. On this horrible anniversary, appreciate the best of humanity.
