So when next you hear people like Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Shehu Sani, el-Rufai et al arguing that it is 13% derivation that has given rise to insurgency, you know better. Let it also be put on record that no South East state is amongst the top 10 revenue drawers from the federation account. So when next you hear that poverty is the cause of insurgency, please challenge it. Kano draws more money than Imo from the federation account and yet Imo has more number of students in school than Kano. So when next you hear Gov Kwankwaso clamouring for the restoration of onshore/offshore dichotomy, know it is just plain mischief. Katsina takes the 7th highest revenue from the federation account and still has the second highest poverty index of 74.5 per cent (2013, NBS) as compared to Osun that is 20th on the 36 states table and has the second least poverty index of 37.9 per cent. so it is not all about the money, utilisation of the money matters
