On the 12th day of Christmas, some verses I (pastor Dean) wrote for Advent and Christmas at Messiah. While waiting for Jesus we were thinking about thin places and Early Celtic Christianity and some Celtic saints (St. Brendan - longing for transcendence; St Columba - soul friends and the Word of God; St Patrick - mission). Sing along (to the tune of Slane) if you like! THIN PLACES The Longing for Transcendence In the winter stillness, longing for light. Looking for hope in the dark despairs night. Rend the highest heavens; make our mountains quake. [Isaiah 64:1] Welcome, Son of Man, for your coming we wake. [Mark 13:26, 33-34] Soul-Friends As we are awaiting, we thank you, o Lord, for friends who have led us to your well-laid board. As we receive comfort by their tender care [Isaiah 40:1, 11] make us friends to others here and everywhere. Mission The way for Messiah we humbly prepare. [John 1] The good news announced to those unaware. [Isaiah 61] Give us your anointing and vision to see [Isaiah 61] how we may proclaim thy glory to be. The Ancient Writings Marked in ancient writings the prophets agree That Jesus comes down from our sins to free, [Romans 16:25-26] Rejoicing in great reversals about to ensue [Luke 1:46ff] The promise to David now fully come true. [2 Samuel 7; Luke 1:32] Jesus, the Thinnest Place Searching for the thinnest place we have arrived at Gods great salvation. He made us alive! In Jesus of Bethlehem, born Christmas night We are closest to heaven, He makes our future bright. https://youtube/watch?v=AZfD5KrH5d8
