On the back of recent news regarding Cameron claiming 8p for paperclip...if you look at the website detailing the expenses officially registered youll find things like newspapers and journals amongst the things that can be claimed back. Who else can claim for such petty items. Some of these are monthly claims averaging £1 per month. With 650 elected MPs that comes to £6,500 for items that they should never be allowed to claim for. If this was all it wouldnt be so bad but this is a tiny proportion of what they can claim. £1500 + to run office, £1200 + rent. Telephone costs, electricity etc. This is one area that could help to ease the pain on the rest of us.. Will they do anything about it? Do they give a toss?
