On the day of April 15th 1993 I was at my mother-in-laws house in splott Road with my wife Angela And my little son Luke just age 2! I just finish Beef and onion pie and chips and And a slice of white bread I had a phone call from my old trainer Ronnie Rush he said to me you been offered a world title fight in two days time! I said wow! Will I be ready my trainer Ronnie said to me this is a chance in a lifetime you will beat this guy his name John Davison from Newcastle he was going to fight the WBO world champion Ruben Palacio but he was stripped of the world title because he picked up a virus HIV so I stepped in With only 48 hrs notice I have to lose 7 pounds in weight I did a few runs and some shadowboxing I was a bit drained But who cares it was a world title fight so I packed my kit bag flew over to the Northumbria centre Washington Tyne and Wear near Newcastle I was the big underdog But i was so determined to win the fight, so many things was going into my head I stayed focused when I walked into the arena the crowd of people were all Davidson supporters I had about 10 or so supporters that Came up in a mini bus, the crowd was so passionate about boxing wen the bell rang for the first round john Davison supporters was so loud but wen the fight went on the crowd quiet down I Was landing the better punches it was a close hard fight I got a bit tired around about the 9th round I have to dig deep, in the 12th round I almost knocked him out then the bell rang it was the end of the fight I was knackered and he was then we have wait for the judges decision I was praying two god hope in that I will get the decision it was a split decision wen they put my hand up and said and the new WBO featherweight champion of the world is Robinson ladies and gentlemen I so so happy #rest #is #history thanks for reading x
