On the genetic level we are only 1% more intelligent than a chimpanzee. The smartest chimp is as bright as the average human toddler. If an alien species exists out there and they are only 1% genetically more intelligent than we are, would they even consider us to be an intelligent lifeform? Our most brilliant scientific minds would only be capable of accomplishing what their preschoolers can easily do. This is a scary thought because, if they didnt view us as an intelligent species what would they do with us? Enslave us? Put us in a zoological preserve? How do we know we arent in a custom built human zoo right now? We do this with other animals that arent as smart as us, so whats to say that we arent in they same boat?
