(On the importance of CONTEXT) I had a conversation with a colleague today about various random training subjects, and during the course of conversation, they pointed out that I constantly use the phrases of In the context of In regards to.. Depending on Referring to Qualifying for....? And that I rarely give a straight answer on any particular topic And they are totally correct. I preface most all my articles and training posts for the reason that I want people to hopefully understand SPECIFICALLY what I am talking about, and not just AGREE with me because they think it sounds good or right. I want comprehension of some level versus mindless consensus There is a grand difference in comprehensive learning versus rote memorization or recollection. There is also a big difference when two people are having a constructive argument versus the common flaming wars of everyone wanting to be right and prove someone else wrong You are never going to agree with someone if you are talking about two different populations, or they are subject matter experts in a completely different field. Or if your training backgrounds and experiences are of entirely different natures. How a bodybuilder trains and eats versus a powerlifter or a crossfitter or a strongman or endurance athlete or triathlete are all going to be DIFFERENT. These are different realms with different methodologies and differing goals. You cannot make overly simplistic straight comparisons saying which is best or worst Any training discussion then of any kind will always depend on WHO are you talking about training. Or WHAT kind of training you are talking about, or both. This what qualifies as Context, and this also always why it depends will be a common answer Something to keep in mind before engaging in an entirely unnecessary argument (although this is internet, so some things are going to happen regardless) #Elitefts #mountaindog
