On the local news another report of an elderly person falling for lottery scams. After sending money believing they were paying tax on their winnings, the amount of mail they received more than trippled....mostly false news of lottery wins. Oh like once youre identified as a real sucker and are willing to send money, youre a real target for more of the same. The victim was in their late 80s and it was the bank that notified a family member to alert them that their loved one had overdrafted their account. Nothing like targeting the aged whose minds arent what they used to be, eh? Youd hope folks would realize that if youve won something, theres NO NEED to send money to get your prize!!!! Taxes are deducted before you receive your winnings when it comes to lotteries. Never give out personal info over the phone. The other scam mentioned in this report had to do with phone calls (emails), from someone trying to physh (fish), credit card info out of you. They try to convince you your info has been tampered with, in some way, and you are to give them vital info to clear it all up. Never, never do that.
