On the recommendation of no less than three legends in the horror genre - Guy N. Smith, Nathan Rosen and H.P. Lovecraft - Ive been reading an awful lot of Arthur Machen shorts and...just wow. His use of the language is just beautiful. I hesitate to use the word poetic, but I cant think of anything else that fits...lyrical perhaps? But, despite how tightly-penned his prose might be, he knows that the story must be lord and master of all, and never lets that out of his sight.
