On the subject of capitalism and free markets: Capitalism is like a vicious, slavering beast that we have tied up to pull a cart containing humanity. It is strong and powerful and can very rapidly pull the cart toward progress, improved standards of living and a bright (and hopefully brightly-colored, come on people, make some smartphones that arent black or white) technological future. However, it must be tightly controlled and muzzled to prevent it from turning around and devouring everyone in the cart. Simply letting the market decide ensures that the next thing on the market--and the menu--is your ass, garnished with plutocracy spices and served with a side of poverty, enslavement and environmental destruction.
