On the way home from dog training class yesterday I hit a thick - TopicsExpress

On the way home from dog training class yesterday I hit a thick patch of fog and my window fogged up and I slammed on the brakes but went through a puddle and hydroplaned and ended up hitting a fallen tree in a ditch. Thankfully the car only has minimal damage (primarily on the front bumper) and both Saxon and I are ok. Saxon, my service dog, did a phenomenal job and as soon as we crashed she crawled into the front and was licking my face until EMS got there. She was concerned but allowed them to leash her and remove her from the car so they could put a neck brace on and put me on a backboard. They loaded me into the ambulance with Saxon and she did a fabulous job taking cues from the paramedics. I hurt my right arm but they let me put my left arm down to pet her and she just kept nudging and licking my hand. She was absolutely awesome in the hospital and kept nudging me until the doctor cleared my back and allowed her to jump up on the bed. Many xrays and several doses of pain medication later I was diagnosed with a rotator cuff injury. I instinctively put my right arm out to stop Saxon and her whole body hit my arm and dislocated it. She is totally fine. I was able to pop it back in place but Im supposed to go easy on it and as per doctors orders I am to feed a steak to Saxon for being phenomenal. Everyone in the ER was super impressed with her. She may be a total derp but last night she was my angel. I have utmost respect and infinite love for my Saxy girl. She is a true Chessie: Brave, loyal and cool under pressure.
