On the weekends I work with an elderly couple from India. Today - TopicsExpress

On the weekends I work with an elderly couple from India. Today was only my third day working with them and the wife has some memory lapses. About halfway through the shift, she calls me to the front door and asks me who told me to remove my shoes before entering her home. I told her that I have friends who are Indian and Iranian and that those were the customs in their households and that I just assumed they would be the same in her household. She started speaking to her husband in Tamil. Then she turned back to me with tears in her eyes. She hugged me, thanked me, and told me that I was the first caregiver they have had who has honored that request. Tl;dr moral of todays story, kids, is that cultural recognition is important. #dontbeadick
