On this Thanksgiving Weekend, I definitely thank God for my family and friends. I also thank him for my right mind. I was thinking about this: As we angrily reflect on the Michael Brown-Officer Wilson fiasco, I want especially our young black men to realize something. When the football games are all off at the end of this weekend, watch the movie American Gangster. People always comment on how successful Frank Lucas was, not realizing it wasnt his smarts, money, nor thirst for power that made him who he was. Frank Lucas had an empire because NOONE, including our own people could ever believe that a black man could have the intelligence to oversee an operation at the magnitude it has progressed to. Think about that! A large number of our society STILL to this day feel we are too intellectually inferior to ever lead, oversee, be promoted, anything that has to do with us being in charge we cant because we are either looked at as incompetent, a power hungry bully, or arrogant. My father and pastor told me a long time ago that being a black man in our country is like having a second full time job. You have to run faster, think harder, jump higher, and reach farther than anybody else because in our societys eyes when it comes to us, an A+ job is considered a C. Just ask our President...... Free your mind, and your ass will follow.......
