On this date, November 4, 1983, The Elvis Brothers had flown from Acapulco, Mexico back to Phoenix, AZ where we had left our tour van at the hotel. If I remember correctly, the three band members flew to Los Angeles and our road crew drove the van to Los Angeles. ?? Im spacing on who was with us on the crew. Rich Denhart and was Doug Gherna out with us? Seems he was, but I dont remember five of us in the van but it has been 31 years. Some of the dates and details tend to blur into each other at this point. Our big news is that we had found out a week or so back, that we did indeed, get the opening slot on the Big Country U.S. tour. It was quite the big deal and many bands were fighting to win that slot. Big Country were being promoted as the next U2 and the buzz was big on them. Their album was produced by Steve Lillywhite (who was the hot producer of that era) and their video of In A Big Country was constantly on MTV. So, that cross country tour starts in Vancouver, BC in a few days. In the meantime, The Elvis Brothers are going to be in LA a few days to meet and schmooze with the LA Portrait/CBS people, etc.. We hadnt really done any meeting and greeting with the west coast office yet. Also, while in LA, were doing a photo shoot or two for magazines, etc.. The album/label/management/agent, machine is rolling faster and faster. This is day 22 on the road.
