On this day, 70 years ago 9,000 soldiers lost their lives (more than Iraq and Afghanistan combined) to break the Nazi chokehold of Europe at Normandy, France. As President Lincoln did in his Gettysburg Address, President Obamas message in a speech delivered on location was the same. We can never forget what happened here. The Presidents speech was moving to say the least. Maybe more so for me because of the connection Ive had with soldiers for the better part of my life. These wars were not fought for any type of tangible commodities or for the purpose of subjugating another people. These wars were fought because the magnitude of the evil necessitated it. I was at the Veterans hospital yesterday with a friend and shared an elevator with a WWII Vet in a wheel chair. I know this because her cap told me so and I reflected. As should all of todays world leaders. Happy Friday FB familia.
