On this day in 1798 the Bataille dAboukir concluded in a French victory when Admiral Nelson was killed after pursueing Bonoparte to Egypt, resulting in a panic which resulted in the destruction of the English Fleet, giving France Naval dominance for the first time in their history and Englands alliance with US as Europe gave up the fight, sueing for peace. In the War of Redemption, Vice-Admiral François-Paul Brueys dAigalliers, who had lost an arm killing Neslson and become an Admiral and hero of France, would secure the French West Indies, where LOverture would remain in power, and Haiti would be in a federal relationship France, while Bernadotte captured New York, which resulted in the fracturing of the American confederacy into a New England and upper New York, which a refugee Adams basically reunited with Britain, and more directly with the Maritime colonies and Upper Canada, on the same pattern as Haiti and France, while the South, under the newly sworn in Jefferson, accepted a similar status in relation to France, one which included the abolition of the slave trade, the acceptance of the principle of free wombs. France also occupied Louisiana and the Floridas, as well as gaining Quebec in addition to Le Republique de la Mer, while Bonoparte (remember him) had to give up his dreams of surpassing Alexander, and settle for emulating Ptolemy. The final peace found him as Proconsul of Egypt and Syria, and in a position to extend French rule as far as Algiers in the West, Khartum in the South, and Mekkah in the South, even if Iraq has nominally under the rule of the Moghal, and actually under Wellesley and the John Company. Bonoparte adopted the name Mohammad Ali in the famous visit to the Dome of Rock, when he proclamed the Jerusalem Caliphate, a Caliphate for the Umma of all the Faiths of Abraham, which in practice meant a common legal system through out the Franco-Caliphal state, albeit the cantonal principle allowed some prefects, for historical reasons, to have traditional religious codes, Rome and the Vatican being the most obvious examples. Doctrinally however, the Alids were basically, and openly, Masonic in their appeal to reason and disregard for all traditions. In Islamic terms, they consisted of an interfaith Sufi order. When the Caliph died (on the same date as Muhammad Ali, in this world line, altho he didnt get stoamach, and outlived Bonoparte, whom he shared a birthyear, by more than a quarter of a century, In this world line, it will be one year later than ours, so he can die on the same day as Lazare Carnot) his son, the Caliph Ibrahim, the son of the Caliphs Ottoman wife, inheirated his relgious office, and the cantons of Jerusalem and Mekkah, Damascus, and a few others, but the unification of the Conquests of the Republic into one union of nations. Thus the Directory, secure in Frances enlarged borders, reaped the benefits of victory, and, largely under the leadership of Lazare Carnot, Tallyrand, Fouche, and the rising star Bernadotte, made France prosperous, and Republicanism respected. This post was mentioned Muhammad Ali, and may have to be todays memorial for him. Well see. Lots of obits today, including this memorial for Napoleons childhood dreams. Ths is probably not my memorial on Carnot! ;) youtube/watch?v=CtWC9b1d5Kw
