On this day in History in 362 Emperor Julian arrived at Antioch with a Roman expeditionary force (60,000 men) and stayed there for nine months to launch a campaign against the Persian Empire. In 1656 Polish-Lithuanian forces clashed with Sweden and its Brandenburg allies in the start of what is to be known as the Battle of Warsaw which ended in a decisive Swedish victory. In 1812 the Treaties of Orebro ended both the Anglo-Russian and Anglo-Swedish Wars. In 1864 at the Battle of Fort Wagner, the first formal African American military unit, the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, supported by several white regiments, attempted an unsuccessful assault on Confederate-held Battery Wagner. In 1925 Adolf Hitler published his personal manifesto Mein Kampf. In 1942 the Germans test fly the Messerschmitt Me 262 using only its jet engines for the first time.
