On tonight’s show we are back at the Community Center for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi in Dowagiac, Michigan. We’ll start the show talking with Michael Petoskey, Tribal Court Chief Judge and Captain Chris Vancompernolle from the Tribal Police. What’s different about the police and courts for the tribe, and how do they look at relationships within and outside of the tribe when criminal events happen. Find out more about the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi here: Pokagon Jamie, Jim and Jennie Brown show us the process of basket making. It’s a tradition handed down for generations, taking advantage of the land while not hurting the land. The Pokagon Band have their own clinic to help their tribe members, and they just broke ground on a new facility. Matt Clay and Cindi Zwar will talk about what services they offer and to who, and what the new facility will be like and allow them to do for their tribe members. And Madalene Big Bear will share some traditional foods of the Pokagan Band of Potawatomi with things like rice, buffalo and maple sugar. Why are these foods a part of their tradition? We’ll find out that and more. For more info on the Pokagon Tribe go here: Pokagon
