On weekdays, its tough to get around doing stuff for home like buying veggies and other grocery - I am in a rush to buy the leftovers from the days proceeds, and grateful for whatever stale, limp stuff I can lay my hands on. Needless to say, I never scrutinize the bills thoroughly. This morning, however, I went to a Reliance Fresh close to my home, on a whim. When they were billing, I noticed that they had charged me for tomatoes instead of potatoes, and charged some stuff twice. When I confronted the cashier, he effectively said whoops, sorry, LOL. He had also conveniently forgotten to give me a freebie that I was entitled to get on purchasing a pack of flour. I was incensed - I got talking to a few more people about this, and apparently its standard operating procedure for these larger stores where they scan bar codes - they charge anything, print the content in quasi-invisible ink, and when you can finally manage to read what they have printed without going blind, you find that they use arcane abbreviations everywhere that they themselves hardly ever get. Be careful when youre shopping at these bar code stores, guys - and double check to ensure you are billed only what you buy, and that you get all your freebies.
