Once again someone who drank the Kool-Aid the 1% statement is a bald faced propaganda lie.. It doesnt take into account the IMF, World Bank, UN funded programs and much more. At a minimum it is at least 5%. Why this like continues in the Media is beyond me. Addtionally there are tons of studies by Think Tanks, and thrid world countries themselves that show that foreign aid is detrimental and worse for developing countries than no aid at all. On top of that the efficiency of private NGOs is 7 times more than the US Government Foreign Aid programs and that is a fact. Americans are the most charitable people in the world and give more voluntarily out of their pocket to help people around the world than any other country. The problems with foreign aid are mismanagement, misappropriation, graft, corruption, and political instability in our own backyard and in the country that receives it. The worst is you the Citizen and Taxpayer dont have a say in how, where, and when your money is spent. Do you think it is right that we pay the foreigners who run the World Bank wages in excess of a million dollars a year!!! while we have homeless veterans and reduced benefits for those who have served their country!!!! If you want to help somebody go to the VA hospital or help a returning veteran who has been blown up, suffered traumatic brain injuries, burns, amputations, and suffers from mental stress disorders. But I guess you would rather give millions to Hamas and Islamic extremists through our foreign aid programs so they can kill and maim our citizens at home and abroad!!!!
