Once during his law studies in Apartheid South Africa, Mahatma - TopicsExpress

Once during his law studies in Apartheid South Africa, Mahatma Gandhi was walking along a road where some white men happened to be walking as well. As they approached him (as he approached them is also valid), he was ordered to step into a gutter and allow the whites to pass, which he obliged. Reflecting on this inhuman behaviour years later when he returned to his native Indian, where he abandoned his law practice in favour of the struggle for Independence from Britain - using non-violent force, he said: I wonder why some people feel themselves honoured by their humiliation of others. He made the remark not out of bitterness but out of the desire to teach his people how not to relate with other humans. Are we different? Are we different? Are we different? #Teach/me/Respect/4/ALL/Men/Lord#
