Once you read her story, we think that you will agree that this dog is a Precious gem! A two-year-old Boston Terrier mix, Precious was picked up as a stray by animal control in early December. She was taken to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. Precious had a badly injured front left leg, which was amputated on December 11th. Oh, and she was pregnant. And heartworm positive. On January 13th, Precious gave birth to four healthy puppies in her temporary foster home. On February 28th, Home At Last Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania offered to take Precious and all her pups! The only obstacle was getting the cost of the heartworm treatment for Precious covered. RADARs liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Susan Blakeney, sought our assistance, and we agreed at once. Precious received her heartworm treatment on April 30th. We learned this about Precious from her temporary foster mom: Shes cuddly and loving. She would rather be in your lap kissing you than playing with other dogs! She does not bother the cats. Precious is very affectionate. She never barks. She loves to snuggle in the bed, and sleeps right beside me just like a human! She took her leg amputation like a champ, and never skipped a beat.
