One day, while jogging through my neighborhood, I was terrified by the screech of tires as a late model cast came up behind me and stopped within inches of hitting me. As I attempted to run faster and/ or jump out of the way, the car pulled up behind me again. I turned to see four young Caucasian men laughing gleefully at my fear. They, then, turned and peeled out with smirks on their faces reflecting their self-amusement. The whole incident took place so fast that I didnt even have time to get the license plate. Afterward, a mix of thoughts andemotions went through my mind; what if they had actually hit me? What if something had happened causing one or more of them to have to get out of the car (I actually had some feelings of fear FOR these guys because they had no idea how much danger their lives would be in had I gotten my hands on them in that moment. It would not have been pretty). But I continued on, thankful that I and they both left the scene in relative safety. That was over a year ago and I still think sometimes, what if.....
