One fine spring day, probably around twenty years ago, I was minding my own business, when my phone rang. It was a dear friend, who informed me she had been listening to the radio and heard that the phone company was doing a special test to the phone lines. The company was admonishing all phone customers to place their phones into plastic bags and tie securely. This was to prevent serious problems with dust and debris when the phone line was strenuously tested. Well being the dust conscious person that I am I preceded to wrap my phones but thought I had better warn other family members of the impending problem. I called my mother-in-law, aunt, and finally my mother. After telling mom about the serious test, there was a very long pause at the end of the line, followed by uncontrollable sobbing or laughter? It proved to be the latter. After she regained her composer, she ask me if I knew what day it was, as I surely had been April fooled. Hmmph, I thought as I hung up the phone, removing the Big Lots plastic bag, see if I warn her of anything ever again. They say a village idiot is born every minute . . . . hello. . . speaking.
