One great fun filled festival is the Chikal Kalo where Hundreds of residents from Marcela take part in the traditional Chikal-kala, celebrated on the second day of Ashadi Ekadas, to symbolize games that were believed to have been played by Lord Krishna in his childhood. The Chikal-Kala festival in Marcela has been gaining popularity each year and while the festival was earlier limited to residents of Deulawada, people from neighbouring areas have begun to take part in the festival in recent times. Chikal Kala is traditionally organized by residents from Deul-wada in Marcela. Chikal-kala is celebrated on the second day of Ashadi Ekadas (according to the Hindu calendar) on completion of the 24-hour-long Bhajani Saptah at Shree Devkikrishna Temple. “The 24-hour long Bhajani Saptah commences at Shree Devkikrishna temple, Marcela, on Ashadi Ekadas at noon and concludes the next day on Duvadas at noon. At the concluding part, devotees gather at the temple and smear oil on their bodies before venturing into Chikal-Kala, opposite the temple “During Chikal-kala, sing bhajans and lok-geets and a number of games are played like the ones played by Bal-Gopal Krishna This is the time of the year when even parents do not hesitate and they allow children to play in the mud.
