One in one out as Flitcroft starts summer business Chorley FC boss Garry Flitcroft has secured the services of former FC United defender Kyle Jacobs, however youngster Keil O’Brien has turned professional and signed for League Two outfit Bury. Jacobs, has been a long-term target of Flitcroft and has signed a one-year contract at the Chorley Group Victory Park stadium. Operating primarily as a defender, the ex Stockport County man can also feature on the right side of midfield. Jacobs left Edgeley Park last month in the hope of securing a Conference club, but boss Flitcroft has won the race for the highly rated 27-year-old fighting off interest from several other clubs. “Kyle is a player I’ve been chasing for at least two seasons,” said Flitcroft. “He is a player that can operate as a defender and on the right of midfield and I think he’ll be a great signing.” Centre-half O’Brien leaves the club for an undisclosed fee, the youngster was a pivotal part in the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier Division title winning side forming an excellent partnership with skipper Andrew Teague. O’Brien will join up with Flitcroft’s brother David at Gigg Lane and will look to break into the first team for the up and coming League Two season. Chorley boss Flitcroft added: “Everybody at the club wishes Keil all the best in the future, he leaves the club with our blessing and he is going to play at a level we know he can play at.”
