One last comment about Robin Williams. He battled depression much of the last few years. I dont know the source of his depression, but we know that behind the glitz and glamour of Hollywood lies a very dark abyss. With a few notable exceptions, star power is determined by youth and good looks -- far more style than substance. The entertainment industry has a way of squeezing all it can out of a performer before it kicks the performer to the curb. Talent doesnt always matter. Hollywood, like so much of American culture, is obsessed with youth. In reality, Williams was NOT an old man. He was not washed up, but perhaps the suits in the boardroom felt otherwise. Hollywood ditches stars as fast as it makes them.
