One more post about the music competition this weekend. My 17 year old nephew Matthew Baumler won top honor Virtuoso Pianist at the competition. He played Chopins ballade no 1 in g minor op 23. For those of you who are not familiar with this piece, it is approx. 15 pages long. He played it entirely from memory and made it look so damn easy. His performance brought me (and others) to tears. Video was not allowed but I did manage to sneak a little in. It was a banner weekend for our family at the competition!
