One of Boris Karloffs more unusual thrillers is the crime drama The Island Monster (1954, Italian). A police inspector sent to investigate crime on an island faces big trouble when his own young daughter is kidnapped by the crooks. Those expecting a horror movie will be disappointed. Karloff isnt seen much in the first half, but in the second half, hes seldom off screen and gets to do a number of things we havent seen him do before. Competently made, but I first saw this in high school and, early on, knew that the title was just to get em into the tent.
