One of Muttvilles resident hospice dogs, Popeye, crossed the rainbow bridge today. Wed like to take a moment to honor his life. Thank you to volunteer Linda for writing these beautiful words about Popeye. Being a volunteer at Muttville, Ive said goodbye to so many precious senior dogs. As I wrote remembrances for them the words always flowed easily. Today, we said goodbye to a big beautiful, soulful and gentle spirit named Popeye. Ive sat here for hours wondering how I can put into words how special he was. As one volunteer said, There are not sufficient words to describe his beautiful soul. Popeye loved being at Sherris during his last days of his journey. He was surrounded by loving volunteers and enjoyed soaking up the sun on the deck. He faced his physical challenges bravely and with dignity. Sherri sat and comforted Popeye as he gently and peacefully left his beautiful Shepherd body. You were not with us long enough Popeye but during that time you touched our hearts and reminded us of what matters most in life.......a pure heart and a gentle spirit. We miss you and your beautiful brown eyes. Thank you for coming into our lives. We will never forget you.
