One of my favorite Brian moments was when I met him. We were doing the big wing suit ways in Lake Elsinore. All these pilots travel from all over the world to make the biggest flock on the planet. So first jump the organizers assign a designated landing pattern and direction for the safety of all of us. So Im setting up for landing and realize that we are all going downwind into landing, but we all took it because it was for everyones safety. Im walking away and I see someone Brian coming into landing and sliding the landing on his butt. I see dirt and stones flying everywhere, when the dust cloud finally settled I can see Brian. Some one else runs to him with this weird prosthetic contraption. Brian straps it on his leg and start walking away with this peg leg. Thats right, a freaking peg leg, Brian had a broken foot and a cast but he was so determined that this insignificant broken leg was NOT going to stand in the way of him participating in the record and following his dreams. On a later day (in the same event) while showering he reach into his toiletry bag and basically chopped a big portion of one of his fingers with his razor blade. The bleeding wouldnt stop and he needed stitching. But he didnt want to go to the hospital and miss out on the jumps. There was a jumper with some EMT knowledge and they managed to find a not so ideal dull and thick needle, some string and some cleaning and sterilizing supplies. However they didnt find any topical or any kind of anesthetics. Brian set down and took the stitches like a man. He continued on the event and did all the jumps while handicap, he flew his slot better than pilots with two working legs and working finger. He took every landing and slid and followed the rules. He wore gloves because his finger wouldnt stop bleeding. The reason why Im sharing this story is because it shows what kind of person Brian is, how determine, passionate and objective oriented he is. And how damn stubborn he can be when it comes to following his passion. Brian will over come and fight with everything he has got to get back to his 100% and we will be there to support him. Does anyone have a picture of Brian and his peg leg?
