One of my favorite tools of the trade: Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis (CDSA). This is a stool test that analyzes a snap shot of your beneficial flora, determines if there is harmful bacteria, yeasts or parasites present, measures your short chain fatty acids (which are anti-inflammatory & a source of fuel for your gut), has markers of inflammation, digestion markers that help determine if you are producing enough enzymes, breaking down fats, proteins & starch, markers of absorption, and so forth. It is..prehensive. I often use and recommend this test, particularly when symptoms persist with multiple interventions and certain disease states are ruled out. This takes a more functional look at the gut and the many chronic GI complaints are functional rather than pathological. This test can be ordered through your doctor.
