One of my former co-workers did work as a Chemist with a local beverage supplier. One day in the laboratory, while taking a lunch break. I pulled out my can of diet coke (ugh) and she went into a panic when I popped the cap, about to indulge. She told me that I would not believe all the shit (her words) that showed up under the microscope from the swab-testing results- much of it from urine and other excrement from mice. Since then, I rarely drink anything from cans- but if I do- the regimen I use is pretty extreme, and may be tantamount to OCD. But to keep it simple- PLEASE clean your can surfaces thoroughly before use- even if you are pouring the beverage into a secondary receptacle.
