One of the best things about living in Mexico are the fruits & vegetables. When tourists say avoid all fruits, vegetables & salads when in Mexico, I always think, Oh NO!!!. To do that you miss out on the so many incredible flavors! We always eat & serve seasonal fruits & vegetables. The avocados three different kinds, the bananas big & small, the carrots oh so ugly, the green oranges, the misshapen grapefruits, the mango also three different kinds some sweeter & firmer than the others, the papayas really ugly & banged up, the gangly beets, chayote sometimes mistaken for raw potato when served, the tomatoes always so pretty, all the peppers...jalapeno, poblano, serrano, xctict, bell & those are the fresh ones...& the list continues! With Sonrisas Catering, we had lots of vegetable & fruit options. When we opened Barlito Hidalgo we continued on with lots of great salad options & sides. Now that we are open for breakfast, lunch & dinner at Barlito Marina Paraiso, we have even more yummy salad & vegetable options. I have been a bit stuck on the Cobb Salad, the grilled beets & apples with panko encrusted goat cheese with Chef Brayans balsamic reduction, our fresh fruit salads & our side salads that come with most of our entrees. In Mexican cuisine, they use vegetables more for their garnishes, stocks & sauces not so much as a side or an entrée. So after a few days of pigging out on empanadas, salbutes, tacos, sopes, panuchos & enchiladas & youre craving some colors & vegetable crunch, come see us at Barlito!!
