One of the criticisms that Lawrence Krauss levels at the Church in the festival of ideas is that They need to meet weekly to reinforce ridiculous ideas. (youtube/watch?v=1g5qsMW3bt8). I would accept this criticism and say If we have to meet weekly to reinforce ridiculous ideas then they are the wrong ideas. However, if we have to meet weekly to maintain a focus on how Jesus would view the current world and how he would act then they are no longer ridiculous. It is not about taking the world back to the first century, it is about bringing the ideas forward to the modern world.
