One of the few fifties group to survive the ever changing times.Their story started in Brooklyn NY.Anthony Gourdine in 1954 put a quartet together who included William (Doc) Dockerty (tenor), William Delk (baritone) and William Bracy .They started singing as the Duponts and in 1956 recorded You on the Winley label.Prove it Tonight followed in 1957.on Royal Roost label.When Sammy Strain (OJays) came aboard members included Ernie Wright (second tenor) and Clarence Collins (baritone/bass).prior to them emerging as Little Anthony .they recorde as the Chesters.and recorded The Fire Burns No More1958 on the Apollo label.Tears On My Pillow with the flips side going to Two People In The World 1958 on the End Label.The Imperials minus Little Anthony did the background singing for Pookie Hudson /Spaniels on I Know I know (without credit) For Lloyd Prices Double L Label.Anthony had left in 1961because of pressure to go solo.After years of recording They still are considered a Head Line Act...
