One of the greatest pleasures of having my birthday at the end of November is that it has always coincided with Thanksgiving. When I think back on all my birthdays through the years it is the family being together that holds permanently my absolute favorite birthday memories above all the extraordinary thanksgiving dinners, football games and presents. Nothing can beat sharing time with family. And here is where I get annoyed and aggrevated at every store I’ve walked into this week. Where is Thanksgiving? Is it hiding behind the plastic Christmas trees or Rudolf’s nose? Just maybe… Is it inside one of the tacky 30 foot tall blow up Nutcracker Soldier lawn ornaments at Lowes? All I know is that commercial USA is jumping the gun earlier and earlier every year and now it beelines straight to Christmas at 12:01AM November 1st seconds after Halloween ends. According to me THIS is the Nightmare before Christmas! Don’t take away Thanksgiving Target and Walmart! It is what should be a priceless week for every family in this country in my opinion! Time with family is a treasure to hold onto if you can at all costs in this impatient, rushed, short term memory culture we live in and I will protect my Thanksgiving! Soooo…here is a song I am putting up in defense of all the Thanksgiving meals prepared throughout the decades because Thanksgiving is not just a holiday it is a family tradition to be treasured.
