One of the last conversations I had with Joe Laswell was while I was laying next to him in a hospital bed. He shared a room with a man who was doped up, mumbling nonsense to the nurses. We looked at each other after one of his roommates outbursts and we cracked up. He started singing Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right...here I am stuck in the middle with you. Then he enlightened me on how Sheryl Crow plagiarized the great song.
