One of the most common ways that committed believers suffer is through the pain we feel from living in this sinful world. And this pain is not only found in the vexation of being around others who are sinful...but equally so, a vexation surfaces and rises to the top, that causes a self-realized pain. A pain, a suffering caused from our own appetite for sin. An appetite that must be denied. And its in this denial that we suffer for Christ by taking up our cross and losing our life so that we may gain it. So, we suffer not only from without: but from within. Any time a believer suffers in order to obey and serve God, he is losing his life that he may gain it. He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose. Luke 9:23 Be vexed and groan...so Long as our vexation and suffering arise from an obedient life in holiness, who cares? This is much more expedient than to have a false, fleeting peace in the midst of tyrannical disobedience to Christ. No matter how you live, all roads lead to the Judgment Seat of Christ. 2 Cor 5:10 And if one who calls himself a child of God is not vexed, nor does he groan at all instances and confrontations with sin...he has not the attributes and nature of Christ at work in his soul. When we give into sin we refuse to suffer for Christ. To do this is to gain your life that you may lose it. Let us embrace the temporal suffering. For I consider that the sufferings of this present age ARE NOT WORTHY to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us... Romans 8:18...we ourselves groan within, eagerly awaiting the adoption, the redemption of our body. Romans 8:23-
