One of the places that I hunt on has a pond that is a magnet for muskrats. I try to keep them out of there cause they make tunnels everywhere and will destroy a pond dam. I shot this muskrat as he was crawling up on a log to feed,and his little jaws mustve clenched very tight cause he kept the vegetation in his mouth the whole walk home. They are interesting little creatures and you can see how their front legs are suited for digging with their large claws. Their back feet are made for swimming,and their tail is a flat and efficient rudder. This one had a white tip on its tail,which Ive not seen on others.Ive heard they are pretty tasty,so I may have to find out this year!
