One of the publishers I approached refused to publish my book - TopicsExpress

One of the publishers I approached refused to publish my book because it is about corruption. He was scared Id be spewing venom on one or the other well-known politician. I tried to explain that the book is not about any individual, and that Id be the last person to spew venom on any individual. But he wouldnt listen. (Full disclosure: he didnt read the manuscript.) Any case, as Im going out in the world to talk about the book, Im myself getting very irritated that the word corruption is always used in the context of one or the other individual. When talking about the Coal scam, for instance, its always about Singh or Parakh whoever it is. Its becoming nauseating for me to see names every time I see the word corruption. It is my firm belief that you can never understand corruption or eliminate it if youre lost in the mess of names. The question is not WHO is laundering public money, but why WHY it is happening in the first place. Whats wrong with the SYSTEM because of which these scams keep happening? How can we CHANGE the system to stop these scams? The opposition always blames the ruling party or coalition, but isnt it a no-brainer that it is they who have to be blamed?! Welcome to Primitive Corruption.
