I was at Santander bank to open a saving account this morning, and I was welcome by their charming looking young manager, who offered me a cup of coffee to start with.The biggest shock of my life came few seconds after I was welcomed as a scholar,we got talking and he asked which country are you from? with joy I mentioned Nigeria, I regretted even saying I was a Nigerian.He went so cold and replied, am sorry they have been warned that Nigerians are not allowed to open an account with the bank.To avoid the embarrassment my country just gave me, I asked can I use my Danish residence to open the account? he said of course as long as it not a Nigeria residence it okay by the bank. Santander bank is the largest bank in the Eurozone and one of the largest in the world. Banco Santander is a global, multi-national bank in 2012 was confirmed for the third time in recent years, such as the Best Bank in the World, according to the annual ranking of Euromoney . At the end of last year, Santander was the largest in the Eurozone and one of the thirteen largest in the world by market capitalization: 63.000 million euros. This is because of the bad names some of our leaders has given us outside the country,we are known as world most corrupt, fraudulent and scammmers etc. Why is this happening to all innocent young and humble Nigerians?I asked myself is it a crime to be a Nigerian? ----------Ayotunde Oladele
