One of the reasons Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds has remained - TopicsExpress

One of the reasons Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds has remained alive after all these years is due to the hard work of modders and map designers. The best of them got their start on our host site, HeavenGames. Thousands of maps and mods have been uploaded over the years thanks to our small, but dedicated community. This week, we are going to give special thanks to a monumental step in SWGBs history. That is the release of The Phantom Menace campaign by SCN Punks Tevious AKA The Vampire Slayer. The Phantom Menace was one of the GBHs earliest custom campaigns, based on the film, and, to a lesser extent, the PC/PlayStation game of the same name. It was a very unique project at the time, taking the form of an Action/Adventure game instead of the traditional Build & Destroy strategy GB was built as. Filled with exploration, challenging puzzles, beautiful maps, and astounding trigger work, The Phantom Menace turned out to be an instant classic; becoming not only SWGBHs most successful campaign (over 14,000 downloads), but the gold standard of how the vast majority of GB campaigns would be designed for the following decade. The Phantom Menace still holds up today as a fantastic campaign, and still serves as a great inspiration to todays few remaining scenario designers. If youre a fan of SWGB, you owe it to yourself to try out this piece of our history. You can do so by following the link below. Tevious, if you happen to stumble upon this someday, thank you for all of your hard work. May the Force be with you. And thanks to everybody else for reading and supporting Expanding Fronts. Over the following weeks well likely be covering many more fantastic projects from SWGBs past, present, and hopefully future. swgb.heavengames/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=658
