One of the top majors people come to my school for is Outdoor Studies. The teachers here are world class in all areas of it and the students pick up on it. We have some amazingly skilled people here! And yet despite our program being great and our students/ alumni being active and sought after in the outdoor world, be it from mountains to the ocean to the rivers or in any environment and in any skill, we are not doing so well financially. I cant say why that is because I am not in the loop on things of that so I wont try to speculate. What I dont understand is why nobody has thought of trying to get more exposure. I dont mean only in Alaska. I mean on T.V. There are tons of shows today that are all about surviving in the wilderness and utilizing skills that people here use often and truly LOVE doing. Shows like Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls or Survivor. If one or more of our students or Alumni got onto one of the shows and did well the amount of good that it would do for our school would be MONUMENTAL! Ryan Shofner Erica Stoddard Alex Wright
